About Botox

Botulinum toxin (Botox) is a natural protein that is produced by the Clostridium Botulinum bacteria. The protein causes a temporary blockade of the muscle-nerve transition, which reduces muscle activity. In regular medicine, a Botox treatment is used for various neurological disorders. The use of Botox has been used for cosmetic purposes for more than 20 years.

After a few days, the skin looks more relaxed. The wrinkles become less deep or even disappear completely. This effect is optimal in two weeks. During the check, post-photos are made to properly assess the result.

Benefits of Botox

Helps against
sweating

Botox is also widely used to treat excessive perspiration under the armpits (Botox dry). It blocks the transition from the nerve to the sweat glands, preventing the glands from producing sweat.

Botox is injected under the skin into the armpits, which inhibits sweat production for 6 to 12 months.

Helps against migraine

A more medical application of Botox is the treatment of migraine and tension headache. By relaxing certain facial muscles, the degree and frequency of the headache decreases or even disappears.

With migraine this has a good effect in about half of the people, more often with tension headache.

Helps against
wrinkles

Because Botox addresses the cause of these wrinkles, namely muscle activity, it is the most effective treatment and prevents wrinkles from becoming deeper in the longer term.

Fight the 'infamous' angry look effectively with a Botox treatment.

Botox is
very safe

Botox has been used in medicine for almost 40 years without any serious side effects. It is a registered medicine, which has been extensively tested before it was launched.

Due to the low dosage that is used, there are virtually no risks associated with cosmetic treatment with Botox.

"You look angry!" This is a common comment. Often people do not realize that they are tightening the frown muscle, so that they inadvertently have a surly expression. Botox can remedy this by reducing the activity of this muscle.

Some celebrities do indeed have reduced facial expression. However, that is almost never due to Botox, but to other procedures. The only expression that you lose with normal use of Botox is looking angry, and most people want to get rid of that.

By no longer tightening the muscle that causes the wrinkle, Botox has a preventive effect. After a number of treatments with Botox you will also see that the wrinkles are becoming less deep. If you stop using Botox, the wrinkles will return to their original depth over time. Only then will the wrinkles become deeper again by using the muscle.

Because it involves excessive perspiration in one specific place, sweat production will not be compensated elsewhere in the body. So you only notice a dry feeling in the treated area.

This is no problem at all. Botox is not a wrinkle filler, but a substance that blocks the muscle-nerve transition. It is injected directly into the muscle and not, like a (permanent) filler, into the wrinkle itself. It cannot therefore interact with a filler that is already present in the area.

Stories about ugly bumps appear after the injection of fillers. Firstly, this always involves (incorrect) use of permanent fillers, sometimes even applied by people who are not doctors. Secondly, Botox is not a filler, but a muscle release, and it can cause absolutely no lumps. It is therefore the safest injectable there is.

Botox is indeed toxic in high concentrations. However, this also applies to almost all other medicines, even simple painkillers such as acetaminophen, and for example dietary supplements. In the low dosage used in cosmetic medicine, Botox has no toxic effect and is safe to use.

Look at yourself in the mirror, where are you bothered and what results do you expect from a treatment? Together with the doctor you discuss your expectations and the options that are available.
